About us

Southern Prairie Railway

Southern Prairie Railway is Saskatchewan’s first full sized tourist railway. Formed in 2010 our goal is to provide an authentic prairie pioneer experience.

Located in beautiful Ogema, Saskatchewan, SPR travels east and west to the towns of Pangman and Horizon respectively.

Our guests will enjoy this excursion on our 1925 Passenger car, pulled by a General Electric 44-ton switcher locomotive. Guests will be treated to the picturesque fields of the prairies as well as the abundance of wildlife.

This group relies on a strong local volunteer base that help keep the station and yard looking beautiful including the yard, trees and the flower beds to name a few.

The Heritage train is a lot of fun. The crew was very informative and friendly, and answered all the questions we had. The ride was pretty good, fall weather was great. The elevator tour was a nice little stop and with the fall weather, the photos were amazing!

What a great little trip! We took the Historic ride and Carol, the tour guide, was funny and knowledgeable. Everything about the trip was fun. We are definitely going to go on one of their other trips! We’ll worth going!!

Great way to experience a train ride in the prairies, get local history and have fun for all ages! Took my 94 year old Mom and we both loved it.

The train was super cool! It’s very retro (1920’s) and was in great shape. Be sure to bring cash for cool drinks on the train, it does get hot in the summer! The views were super pretty and I imagine it looks even shortly before harvest.
