Pangman Homecoming

Come celebrate Pangman’s Homecoming with us! Enjoy a 45 minute leisurely train ride through relaxing countryside not usually seen from Highway 13. We see wildlife, sloughs, and a ravine as we make our way to the neighbouring village of Pangman where you will find a small open-air market of local crafts, baked goodies and seasonal produce. After visiting the market, walk one block to Ronnie’s on Railway where you can enjoy an ice cream treat or hot dog or hamburger in a retro styled café which features a working jukebox. The Pangman and Area Museum is also located in this building. Across the street from Ronnie’s is the Local Cottage Thrift Shop where you can find some great buys. The visit to Pangman is one hour before we return to the Ogema Train Station.

Jeffery Straker’s ‘Prairie Skyscraper Concerts’

The Horizon grain elevator becomes a concert hall

Back by popular demand! Saskatchewan’s own award-winning singer-songwriter pianist Jeffery Straker is set to perform another series of concerts in prairie grain elevators this summer.

Departing Ogema, you’ll arrive by train at the historic 1922 Federal grain elevator in Horizon. The concert in this unique rural heritage setting will feature many of Jeffery’s songs including some from his latest album “Great Big Sky”, that won a 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award. Last year’s attendees learned that the acoustics in this old elevator are quite fantastic.

Jeffery was recently featured performing in a national broadcast on CBC Radio’s “The Current”, and he found a new fan in His Majesty King Charles III after his latest album (somehow) made its way into Buckingham Palace and was hand delivered to the King. Straker was also chosen to represent Canada performing at Expo ’25 in Osaka, Japan last summer. And now he’s here in the grain elevator in Horizon. All aboard!

A Leisurely Ride through the Open Prairies!

Father’s Day is a day for people to show their appreciation for fathers and father figures. Bring your family and enjoy a train trip across the prairies to Horizon where a guide will explain how the 1922 Grain Elevator worked before returning by rail to the Ogema Station. A treat will be given to all the father figures.

A Leisurely Ride through the Open Prairies!

The second Sunday in July is the Deep South Pioneer Museum’s Show Day. There are 33 buildings to check out filled with artifacts. They have many hands on demonstrations as well as a parade of antique machinery, a church service and a jam session. A hamburger stand is on the grounds if you happen to get hungry visiting all the exhibits. Ride the train to Horizon, visit the 1922 grain elevator, return to Ogema on the train and finish off the day with the visit to the museum. Your train ticket gives you free admission to the Museum Show Day.

A Fabulous Pitchfork Fondue Supper & Train Ride!

Pitchfork Fondue is a Western steak oil fry. And yes, pitchforks are used. It was started on dude ranches and then outdoor parties. This tour includes a fabulous pitchfork fondue supper featuring a 10 oz. rib eye Canadian AAA steak fondued to your liking, roasted potatoes, creamy Caesar salad, pasta salad, veggies, assorted desserts, a non-alcoholic beverage, museum entry, and (of course) the train trip to Horizon and back. This tour does not include the elevator tour in Horizon.

Take the train to Horizon, if you dare! The train will be robbed by the local outlaws. All proceeds from robbery are donated to STARS Ambulance and Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. This tour includes the 1922 elevator tour in Horizon, Saskatchewan. NOTICE – June 8th train will be heading to Pangman instead of Horizon.

Enjoy a Kids’ Day Out in Ogema!

All aboard! The train departs Ogema for a couple of hours of fun! Balloon animals, face painting, lunch, and lots of festivities, as well as the Train Tour to Pangman, ensure the kids have a day full of wonderful memories.

Ride and Dine

Enjoy an old school Texas Style Barbecue meal and your 3.5 hour train ride! This mouth watering meal will be catered by Bud’s BBQ, from Ogema! The smoker will be rolling right near the 1922 elevator in Horizon, for an authentic barbecue experience. There will be plenty to choose from, including AAA Canadian Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Creamy Coleslaw, Caesar Salad, Smoked BBQ Beans, and Bacon and Dill Potato Salad! There will also be Bud’s Honey Glazed Donuts and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages to choose from.

Take the train to Horizon, if you dare! When you arrive, there will be a tour of the 1922 elevator at Horizon. During your journey the train will be robbed by the local outlaws. All proceeds stolen from the passengers go to STARS Ambulance and Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.
